Reflecting on ALLC 2025: Sharing Digital Literacy and Wellbeing Across Borders

I am grateful for the opportunity to take part as a plenary speaker in the Asian Language, Linguistics, and Communication (ALLC) Webinar 2025, hosted by Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) on 26 November 2025. This academic forum brought together scholars, educators, and students from different countries to discuss contemporary issues in language, communication, and education.

In Session 4, I had the honor of sharing the virtual stage with two inspiring scholars: Mr. Hoang-Phuc Lam (Alec) from Viet Nam National University and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Seriaznita Mat Said from Universiti Teknologi Malaysia. The session highlighted diverse yet interconnected perspectives, ranging from vocabulary learning strategies and employability-oriented communication to digital literacy and wellbeing.

In my presentation, “Digital Literacy and Wellbeing through Digital Storytelling Integrated with Peer Assessment,” I reflected on how digital storytelling can serve not only as a pedagogical tool, but also as a meaningful space for learners to express ideas, build critical awareness, and support their wellbeing in digital learning environments. Integrating peer assessment, I argued, can further strengthen reflective learning and foster a more participatory academic culture.

Participating in ALLC 2025 was particularly meaningful to me because it reaffirmed the importance of cross-cultural academic dialogue. Engaging with fellow speakers and participants from different institutional and national backgrounds reminded me that challenges in language education and digital literacy are shared concerns—yet they also open wide opportunities for collaboration and mutual learning.

I sincerely appreciate the invitation and the warm academic atmosphere created by the organizing committee at UTM. Opportunities like this encourage us, as academics, to continue contributing thoughtfully to global conversations while remaining grounded in our own institutional and cultural contexts.
